Unicorns

I am studying Unicorns today.

They are part of my February.

I have perched up at the kitchen table with my books.
I am writing Unicorn stories.

I am watching a freezing mist
coat the trees.
I lit the oil lamps.
The flame warms my spirit.

We put a pot of chili on this morning
in the slow cooker.
The house smells delicious.
100% chance of snow tonight.
January goes out roaring.

Wellness

My friend sent me a gift.
She sent a charm with the indalo man encircling a cage that holds a golden ball. It is a special gift of love and light from a dear and special friend. It is the gift of connection. I tinkle the charm to call the Angles. I hold the charm and my friend is only a thought away.

I am working on wellness. Eating lightly as my body recouperates from a fever and coughing. My husband has made me soup and toast each day. I think I am ready to make a stir fry!

I am smiling as often as I can.
Even laughing. I want to write on one of my hats. I want to show my hat cherry blossoms too. I love this drawing of Basho and his hat.

I am drinking lots of tea.
Many cups of my herb blends from herbs I dried last summer.
I can taste summer and hear the bees.

My friend sent hugs on a day I needed them.

I instantly felt better.

Tonight and for many night to come I will snuggle up with the book she sent and once again commit myself to my garden.

My husband brought home clementines.
He knows how much I enjoy them.

I have not had much of an appetite.
To become well I must eat.

I am working on wellness.
I was out of balance.
I am finding harmony.

I do hope you and yours are well.

A cup of tea

After cleaning the kitchen this morning
I looked forward to going outside
and being in the snow
with the birds.

It was refreshing sitting outside while it snowed.
We went for a walk.

Back home I was ready for a cup of tea.
We have a little tea ritual.
We have a few tea things.

Wabi Sabi in the kitchen.
Wabi Sabi and tea go together so very well.
Wabi Sabi is my way of life.

I enjoy preparing our meals.
Often my husband and I will cook together.
It is a joy to chop vegetables side by side.
My husband gave me two cutting boards in 1972.
I treasure them.
We went to the Chinese market for our eight treasures tea.
We stopped at the bakery for our bread.
We shopped at the Italian market for olives.
This is my favorite way to shop.
I am having a cup of tea
and watching the snow fall.

January's kitchen

We explore the Asian world in January.
Our home is decorated with an Asian theme.

We celebrate Chinese New Year. 2011 is the year of the rabbit.
We are planning our trip to the Chinese market. We need eight treasures tea and black rice. We are talking about getting another rice lantern for the soffit light that is over the kitchen table.

We are plant based people.
I am always looking for new recipes.

We try to eat locally grown vegetables.
This year we want to grow more of our food.
Knowing where my food comes from and how it is grown is important to me. I enjoy cooking in my wok.
I enjoy the Asian way.
