Tasty

Having rosemary growing on the
 windowsill is wonderful.

We chopped some yesterday for our
Christmas bake.

The bake was wonderful!
Vanilla beans make great stir sticks.

Hope you are enjoying Boxing Day.

Rainy Monday

The pair of Carolina Wrens called to each other.
One was near the back door.
I find them to be joyful birds.
A cold rain has fallen for most of the day.
It is to change to snow over night.

I am reading poetry and drinking coffee today.

We are in halcyon days.
The wind is calm.
The rain is steady.

My friend from Colorado is coming over tomorrow.
We will have Gingerbread men and coffee.
We will share some Christmas cheer.

I looked out the back door and saw our little mouse.

He is wet!
I am reading about W.W. II
I am learning about rationing and
Victory Gardens.

We are painting.
Redoing one of the bedrooms.
We are adding color.
We are making a reading/t.v. room.

I have some shopping to do for our room.
We need more book cases
and the t.v.

Merry Christmas!

Remembering

My Mother would have been 88 years old today.
I miss her.
I miss the way she called me, "Q."
I have a Christmas tree on my sewing machine dedicated to her.
It is filled with her old sewing notions.

A rose made from a palm leaf decorates one branch.
It was from her funeral.
My mother was an artist with needles and thread.
She made little darlings all the time.

I am grateful many of her pieces are in my home.

This week I am cooking with French Sorrel.
I have some growing in the kitchen.

My tree this week is the Fir.

For my cooking class I am making sauces
and cookies.
Tomorrow we will try to make gluten free gingerbread!

We really enjoy sweet potato fries.

I have fresh rosemary growing in the dining room.
Mint is growing in the living room.

Fresh mint is amazing in December.
I like it in my cocoa.

Pine Trees and Ginger

I lit a candle today for my friend.
I send my love and light.

On my desk is a little Christmas Tree
 that is decorated with memories.
My daughter made paper garlands for my miniature tree.
She made kite and penguin garlands since
I love them both.
She made tiny traditional paper doll garlands too.
I used an old felted Snowman hat
that was from my childhood for a topper.
My Mother and I made two little milk top ornaments
when I was 4 years old.
I remember making them with her.

I treasure this little tree.

We have begun our Winter Cribbage tourney.

Tomorrow we begin our Christmas cookie baking.
We will be baking glutton free delights!

This week I am studying ginger and the Pine tree.
This photograph has inspired me.
I want to see if I can sprout a pine tree!
I have lots of fresh Pine boughs in my house.
I love the smell.

I also have fresh Holly in vases.
For Winter Solstice I will buy Roses to go with
my Pine and Holly.
I am enjoying my study
of the German culture.
